Job Description

The offshore wind WTG lead UK is responsible for the coordination of the WTG engineering, design and procurement of Total’s UK offshore wind portfolio. The role will involve supporting Total’s UK offshore wind projects, and taking on WTG package management roles as required, during the projects’ development phase.

In particular the role involves the following:

Project support (on an ad hoc basis and / or by taking specific project roles, WTG package manager, WTG engineer etc)
Establish the WTG procurement strategy for specific projects (fixed and floating), be responsible for the delivery of the strategy,
Support UK offshore wind projects on all WTG related topics
Evaluate suitability of offshore WTG models for specific projects,
Establish robust DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX assumptions for financial modelling,
Provide input to energy yield estimations,
Support and manage the WTG interface and input to foundation design processes (fixed and floating),
Participate in and coordinate WTG supply RFI and tenders,
Manage contract negotiations (TSA and SMA).

Develoment of expertise
Participate in developing standard contract terms for WTG TSA and SMA,
In cooperation with the central DSO team, establish and manage relationship with WTG suppliers, and centralise information about product and technology developments,
Where required manage and participate in TDD processes.

Context and environment

Total targets 35 GW of a renewable generation capacity in 2025 and will continue to expand its business to become a leading international player in renewable energies. Offshore Wind development is one of the axes of this ambition.
Currently, TOTAL is already a shareholder of Seagreeen (1140 + 360 MW, 51% with SSE), Bluegem (100+300 MW, 80% with SBE) and the R4 project (1,5 GW, 50% with GIG) in the UK, Eolmed (30 MW) in the South of France and the Bada portfolio of projects (50% with GIG) in South Korea. Additional projects are expected in the next years.

In order to support the UK portfolio of projects Total has established a project support team in Aberdeen, the position is within the Aberdeen support team, with regular travel accross UK required. The main focus of the role will be to establish and coordinate WTG strategies for the UK portfolio of projects (fixed and floating).

Candidate profile

This role would suit a degree qualified engineer with a minimum of 15 years working experience, the candidate will have working experience in and knowledge of offshore wind turbines, and their market. The candidate should have experience in contract and subcontractor management. Knowledge of the offshore wind industry is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:
Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between, contractors, team members and other stakeholders,
Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken),
The technical skills to understand complex offshore operations and the ability to exchange with and understand subject experts,
Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,
Ability to use Microsoft Office.
