My client is looking to appoint a Senior Grade Ecologist into their South West Ecology team. They are able to offer flexible working and have offices in Bristol, Exeter or Cardiff for this particular team.
My client has a large, highly experienced and friendly Ecology team who are involved with a diverse range of interesting projects across the UK. They work for both private and public sector clients. In addition to working on UK projects, there are also opportunities to work internationally if desired. The team pride themselves on the integrated support offered by working alongside their in-house water, landscape, arboriculture and sustainability specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.

About The Role
You will be working on a range of large and prestigious projects across the region. This will include large rail and road schemes, urban regeneration, energy and power.
The role will be a good mix of office and field work, as well involvement in team and client management.
You will be highly supported by the Regional Director and work as their second in command, hence able to influence and provide insight and ideas on the teams’ further development.

• Planning and undertaking ecology surveys including Extended Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys.
• Preparation of tenders and a range of ecological deliverables including; Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecology Chapters, Ecological Management Plans and Reports to support Habitats Regulation Assessments.
• Client liaison and project management.
• Consultation and negotiation with regulators and stakeholders.

Capabilities & Qualifications
• An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and a member of the CIEEM.
• Experience in ecological consultancy
• Hold a Natural England protected species Licence.
• Demonstrable experience in extended Phase 1 habitat survey along with expertise in protected species surveys and, preferably, a holder of an additional European protected species survey licence.
• The ability to take a lead role in undertaking protected species surveys and communicate the requirements to other team members.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
• Experience in delivering EcIA and knowledge of HRA.
