Exceptional opportunity for an ambitious ecology professional to lead an established team of 50+ ecologist across the UK.
This role will see you joining one of the UK’s most highly regarded consultancies, with a reputation for outstanding work, fantastic culture and continuous progression and learning.
This exceptional opportunity would suit an ambitious and dynamic Ecologist with significant industry experience who is not only technically strong, but also enjoys commercial responsibilities too.
Joining as the Head of Ecology, you will play a key role in my client’s business as they embark on a period of significant growth.
My client is one of the UK’s leading consultancy firms globally, comprising of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists. You’ll be working alongside many of the UK’s leading professionals on a range of high-profile projects Nationally.
You will be stepping into a key leadership position with significant influence within the team as well as across the wider business.
You will manage and lead and existing team of ecologists, ensuring the successful delivery of a range of exciting projects. You will be working with internal and external clients to deliver and give clear, consistent and considered advice to achieve project goals and benefit biodiversity.

Accountabilities
• Support team performance and development.
• Creates an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
• Provides general encouragement to team members and to aspire to stretch goals.
• Communicates company strategy and goals.
• Identifies areas for new training or skill gaps.
• Conducts national briefings to update the team on projects, workloads, wider engagement opportunities etc.
• Directs the hiring processes.
• Supports with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance.
• Delivers the financial plan.
• Liaises with the wider leadership team to ensures that operational deadlines and goals are met.
• Liaises with the HR Business Partner and to promote staff welfare.
• Undertakes pay reviews and promotions.
• Generates and shares comprehensive and detailed reports about team performance, objectives, and deadlines, including metrics.
• Recognises and reward high performance.
• Directs team building activities.
