They would be open to speak with candidates from Consultant grade, through to Principal. It is with a world class and highly regarded consultancy, with an incredibly influential leadership team. With a network of UK offices, the post is offered as hybrid or fully remote and comes with a generous package.

You will work within a dynamic team of aquatic environmental scientists with cross-cutting expertise in ecology, hydrology, geomorphology, water quality, fisheries and natural capital, to deliver a range of projects for the UK water and energy industries, and their environmental regulators.

Role & Company:

As a freshwater ecological consultant, you will be managing and analysis large numerical datasets, and contributing to the production of high quality, technical reports that are focused on the needs of our clients. Working under the guidance of a technical lead, you will demonstrate initiative and attention to detail.

In joining the aquatic ecology team you will be working on protected species surveys, scoping Studies and work on EIAs, SEAs, HRAs, WFD and MCZ assessments for a wide range of marine developments including energy (nuclear power and renewables); oil and gas; water industry; flood defence, aggregates, coastal infrastructure developments and public sector projects.

My client is one of Europe's largest specialist aquatic environmental consultancy, offering clients an integrated approach to every aspect of the investigation and management of freshwater catchments and marine habitats and operate UK wide and internationally. In line with their ambitious growth plan, the role offers excellent opportunities for career progression and development.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Desk and/or field-based experience of some or all of the following technical areas: environmental water resource management e.g. environmental components of water company Drought Plans and Water Resource Management Plans; hydro-ecology; hydrometry, hydrology, hydrological modelling; water quality assessment and modelling; fluvial geomorphology; statistical analysis, data management and modelling of large and complex environmental data sets; river restoration
* Ability to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant UK legislation (e.g. Water Framework Directive, Habitats Directive, the Agriculture Bill and Defra's 25 Year Environment Plan).

Alternatively, if you are more of a generalist Ecologist, I have a range of clients across the UK who are hiring. The positions are nationwide and vary from large multidisciplinaries to small independent consultancies, so I can brief you on a role depending on what piques your interest.

Furthermore, we have a referral scheme whereby we offer £250 as a thank you and plant a tree as part of our offsetting scheme for every successful placement, so if you know anyone in your network that may be considering their options please do pass on my details. I would be happy to help.
