Our client in North London is looking to recruit an Assistant Arborist to work and ensure the parks and other open spaces are attractive, clean, safe and welcoming at all times.
To be competent in the principles and practices of all arboricultural operations, for example planting, pruning, (root, branch and crown reduction) training, pest and disease control, lopping, felling and grubbing out.
To be competent in the use and maintenance of hand tools and associated equipment used in arboricultural operations to include ropes and ladders.
To be competent in the use and maintenance of all powered tools used in arboricultural operations, to include chainsaws, jacks, winches, woodchippers and stump grinders.
To assist with all arboricultural and allied operations in both the Borough’s parks and other open spaces and on the public highway, to include cordoning off work areas.
To participate (on a rotational basis) in a 24 hour day, seven days a week emergency call out service to undertake emergency works in all weather conditions, and in so doing to quickly assess situation and make decisions in order to safeguard the health and safety of both staff and the general public as well as the integrity of the property.
To drive vehicles up to 35cwt as required - prior to use, inspect vehicle to ensure that it is in a road-worthy condition, in accordance with the provisions of current legislation, and to report any defects immediately to your line manager.
