Plant technician (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation), biomass power station, Killin, Stirlingshire, Scotland, UK. Salary to £33,000 per annum + benefits.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team operating a brand new (CHP) biomass power station that will provide clean energy 24/7 to the national grid for the next 25 years.
The BERL Acharn biomass power station is a purpose built facility designed and built to the highest standards and uses highly advanced, proven technology to generate heat and power from locally sourced sustainable fuel (wood). It's currently preparing for imminent commissioning and connection to the national grid.
The site nestles in the beautiful hillside around Killin in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and offers a clean and safe environment to all operational staff and visitors to the site.
We are immediately hiring plant technicians to work a 6 day, 12 hour shift rota to operate the power station. The focus of the role is to ensure optimum availability of the plant and to assist with some scheduled and preventative maintenance.
The majority of the work will be performed in the computerised plant control room but you may occasionally operate some of the heavy mobile plant equipment (after suitable training).
You're an experienced craft operator with electrical, mechanical or instrumentation qualifications (C&G as a minimum and potentially HNC / HND).
Full training and induction is available, however, you'll have experience of working in an engineering process industry, for instance, wind turbines, hydro power, conventional thermal power, CHP or diesel power generation would be ideal.
You enjoy working as part of a small team and you're comfortable working 12 hour rotating shifts.
You live within a reasonable commutable distance to the site, or you would able to move to the area.
* Formal qualifications in electrical, mechanical or instrumentation engineering.
* Previous experience working in a process engineering environment with formal health and safety procedures.
* Experience using computerised plant control systems.
* Computer literate.
* Willing to undertake some professional training, and be trained to operate the control room, high voltage switchgear, carry out plant isolations, and defect reporting.
* Fluent English language skills.
* Able to work in the UK without sponsorship.
The role offers scope for personal development, a competitive basic salary and shift allowance up to a total £33,000 per annum. In addition, the company operates a pension scheme and offers 33 days' holiday inclusive of public holidays.
