The Sustainability Team at London Metropolitan University is award
winning and has won 13 awards since 2015 for sustainability and carbon
reduction. The position of Sustainability Assistant is a newly created
post to support the Sustainability Manager in continuing to reduce the
environmental impact of the University.
The Sustainability Team have responsibility for promoting
sustainability, developing and implementing policies and management
systems and coordinating sustainable development across the University.
There are a number of major projects underway including the
implementation of One Campus, One Community, implementing an
environmental strategy, improving waste reduction and recycling,
investment in energy efficiency, implementing a sustainable food policy
as well as a number of other projects to increase the environmental
sustainability of the University.
The Sustainability Assistant will assist the Sustainability Manager with
the effective management of the University's environmental aspects and
impacts and raising awareness about environmental best practice across
the University. The post holder will act as a champion for sustainable
practice across the university, assisting in driving cultural and
behavioural change throughout the organisation. This will involve
promoting sustainability, assisting with the implementation of polices
The successful candidate will have experience in managing campaigns
and awareness activities, well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills
and be committed to sustainability and the environment. They will have
knowledge of a wide range of environmental issues including: energy,
waste, transport, food and procurement/supply chains. A good general
standard of education to degree level or equivalent by experience or
competence is essential.
Salary £29,910 to £35,646 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance)
