Our client is a multi-disciplinary consultancy that boasts some of the best projects around the world. It is currently seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to play a central role in delivering its workload and reputation in environmental services.

The role will involve taking a leading role in the ecological and biodiversity aspect of development projects. Working in an integrated team of environmental professionals you will provide advice to clients and team members, with responsibilities for management, client liaison, undertaking field surveys, reporting (Phase 1 habitats, protected species, EcIA and EIA chapters, EPS licence applications etc.), and managing projects to budget and deadlines. You will be responsible for ecological subcontractors, approving of work scopes, technical review and ensuring quality of inputs to project teams. Your work will also include:
• Managing ecological inputs and deliverables to projects
• Liaising with clients, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders
• Providing ecological advice to clients and colleagues
• Developing client relationships
• Technical proposal writing in support of the bid team
• Mentoring less experienced/entry level staff and strengthening relationships with other disciplines

Significant knowledge and experience in one of the following will be of particular interest:
• The aquatic environment, including River Habitat Surveys and River Corridor Surveys, plus species surveys (fisheries and fish, white-clawed crayfish, freshwater pearl mussel, water vole and otters, aquatic macroinvertebrate sampling, analysis and interpretation, and aquatic plant surveys)
• Bat survey techniques
• Ornithology

Furthermore, you will have:
• A relevant degree qualification
• Associate or full membership of CIEEM
• Chartered Environmentalist status (Chartered Ecologist or similar)
• A full current UK driving licence
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills (particularly the ability to produce clear well-argued reports and presentations)
• The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Experience at managing and mentoring less experienced/entry level staff
