Job Ref:

On the back of growth in volume and diversity of project work, our award winning consultancy client is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Ecological consultant into their Reading or Bristol team. This would be a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Ecologist to take the next step in their career, or a principal looking to join an established team with a full pipeline of Nationwide Projects!

Responsibilities of the post:

As part of the collaborative UK Ecology team, you will be providing advice in connection with land redevelopment and infrastructure projects. Your workload will be varied and will include the provision of ecological support and advice throughout the whole project lifecycle from due diligence and preliminary ecological appraisal, through to project implementation, mitigation, management and monitoring. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across other environmental disciplines to ensure client and project objectives are achieved.

Our client employ sub consultants to undertake surveys so field work will not form part of your responsibilities. However, you will work very closely with site teams to ensure the smooth running of survey works.

Qualifications and experience:

As a Principal Ecological Consultant you will have:

* An appropriate Degree and Chartered Membership (or actively working towards)
* Ability to communicate effectively, with confidence and appropriate technical knowledge, to all involved in the project lifecycle including clients, subcontractors and onsite building contractors.
* A thorough understanding of legislation that underpins the ecological advice you provide.
* A portfolio that includes management of team, projects and budgets.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a variety of project work across the public and private sectors, across the whole of the UK. You will collaborate with colleagues as far as Glasgow and Manchester, to deliver projects ranging from residential projects, to big infrastructure and large regeneration projects. An aspiration of the team is to get involved in more expert witness work, so if you're interested in developing your experience in this area, get in touch today!
