May Walters is a boutique search consultancy specialising in senior positions within the environmental sector.
An opportunity has arisen with our client, an established consultancy for an individual to join the team.
Our client is an engineering lead multi disciplinary which has been expanding rapidly over the last 5 years by acquiring niche consultancies throughout the UK. Last year saw a 40% growth in terms of employee numbers and they have forecast a growth of 20% by organic growth for the coming year, in addition to strategic acquisitions of a number of firms to add to their ranks. The organisation have a reputation for delivering structural and civil engineering, but also geoenvironmental services into a number of different sectors.
Having established a geoenvironmental team throughout the UK which numbers over 20 staff, there is a desire to further develop the South East by acquiring an individual who can lead the discipline within this geographic area. They have established client relationships which are currently being serviced, and there is substantial resource planned to be invested in this area following a successful appointment, which would enable rapid growth of the division over a number of offices.
Reporting directly to the board, the successful candidate would be required to lead and develop the team within the south east, over a number of offices and working closely with other regions. It would be expected that the successful individual would take the lead on developing larger accounts and setting the strategy for winning new business moving forward. Additionally there would be a requirement to grow the team in the south east in accordance to the business plan developed, identify and recruit the right people and mentor and develop the team to make sure they are achieving their potential. Operationally there would be a requirement to allocate resource to ensure that projects are delivered up to specification.
The existing team is spread throughout the UK, albeit most of the organisations business growth is currently within the south east and forecasted expansion will focus in this area. This role will be a crucial leadership role and key part of the senior management team.

The successful candidate would be based within easy access to the London / South east area.
They would be expected to have;
Relevant qualifications and charterships (or be progressing)
A track record of delivering geo-environmental, either geotechnical, contaminated land or site investigations projects within the UK
A good client facing manner and be able to demonstrate client development
A desire to lead and motivate a successful team
