We are supporting a leading consultancy with their growth strategy to expand their Birmingham based water team. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside multi-disciplined colleagues to delivering development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
You will be involved in a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects, including flood alleviation studies, flood risk assessment and development work. You're work load will be varied and may also include supporting works to water bodies classified under the Reservoirs Act and supporting work driven by the Water Framework Directive.
On joining the business, you will be supported to develop your technical expertise and also receive training in project manager and client liaison. Our client is well recognised within the industry for the support offered to junior consultants within the business; you will be provided with opportunities for career development, with tailored training and support to help you reach Chartership.
Your brief will include producing 1D/2D hydraulic models in support of FRA reports. You will also have the opportunity to create floodplain extents maps and the outline designs of flood management measures. Specifications will form an important part of your daily outputs and you will work to effectively manage surveyors to collect relevant data.
Qualifications / Experience:
The ideal candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic team player, who holds a Masters degree in a relevant discipline, and is working towards Chartership of a relevant institution such as CIWEM.
You will also demonstrate the following;
* Experience of producing and running 1D/2D hydraulic models. Along with significant experience of using some of the following; ISIS, TUFLOW, ESTRY, ISIS 2d, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks RS, MapInfo / ArcView, Micro Drainage FloodFlow.
* GIS skills.
* Ability to use models to inform reports and design.
* Good client and stakeholder liaison skills.
* Understanding of land development and national planning policy.
