On behalf of my client, I am looking for an experienced Principal or Associate Planner. The role can be located in one of their many offices across the UK, including Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter.
The person appointed will join a highly successful planning and environmental team with a wide range of client interests within the public and private sectors.
The position will provide additional capacity to deliver on their expanding workload in DCO projects, and will play a key role in the development of the growing national business, linking in with other parts of the Infrastructure business throughout the organisation.
While the post would be based in one of their offices, there will be a requirement to work out of other UK offices or client offices, where the need arises in order to meet the demands of fluctuating workloads.
The position requires a Chartered Planner, combining an excellent track record in planning, with particular experience in providing advice to their growing markets in the energy, transportation, water and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities
*Coordination of multidisciplinary teams working on planning projects
*Assistance with preparing consent applications which may include Town and Country Planning, Development Consent Order, Transport and Works Act etc
*Provision of technical consents advice, primarily TCPA, but ideally on PA2008 also
*Drafting, assembly and editing of Environmental Statements and reviewing of topic specialists' inputs
*Project management with effective budgetary control on projects owned or delivered into by the EAM&TP team
*Desk studies, research, data management and report writing
*Liaising with internal and external clients and statutory bodies, and public consultation, as necessary
*Building good internal relationships through responsiveness and a commercial approach
*Mentoring of junior staff

Requirements
*A relevant planning degree
*Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
*Relevant post qualification experience in a planning role, ideally in both the public and private sectors
*Experience in the management and delivery of DCO projects
*A sound, in-depth knowledge of planning law and procedures, including the changing planning system at national, regional and local levels
*Capability to work alongside and co-ordinate a range of technical specialists providing input into planning submissions and EIAs
*Excellent project management skills for multi-disciplinary projects
*Proven ability to manage budgets
*Numerate and confident in the use of and analysis of data
*Consultancy experience is an advantage, as is a need to demonstrate commercial expertise
