WSP are looking for a senior environmental consultant with demonstrable experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The successful candidate must be efficient, highly organised and have demonstrable project experience in a minimum of two sectors, with an interest in developing skills in further sectors. The candidate should have a consultancy background with excellent commercial awareness and communication skills. We are looking for a hard-working, ambitious and self-motivated individual, able to inspire others. Excellent report writing skills are essential for this post which will also include exposure to clients and potential for Business Development.
The successful candidate will be working on delivering a broad range of projects including bidding, inception, design/assessment and consenting. Our work involves infrastructure and development projects in most sectors, in particular highways, power, rail, and residential/commercial development.
Whilst the post will be based in our London office, the role will involve work across the rest of the UK and there maybe occasional opportunities to be involved in projects abroad. The post will be within our Environmental Assessment, Management and Town Planning (EAM&TP) team which is a service line in WSP UK wider Environment business.

Degree level qualification in EIA or similar
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject
Previous experience of delivering EIAs and working within multi-disciplinary teams
Previous experience of working on projects with limited supervision
Understanding of UK environmental and planning legislation
Experience of liaising with internal and external clients, planning authorities and stakeholders
Understanding of a range of technical environment disciplines
Experience of undertaking desk studies, research, data management and report writing
Professional and able to work on own initiative as well as part of the wider EAM team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and clients
Willingness to tackle new areas of work beyond core skills and to do tasks beyond normal remit when appropriate
Takes initiative in communicating and resolving issues as they arise using measured and timely communication
Keeps wider team informed
Adaptable to changing business needs of team
Positive attitude with good team working skills
Good commercial awareness
Good attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and deliver against time and cost commitments
Needs to hold a full UK driving licence.
