Join a growing team offering you the opportunity to work with blue chip clients and high profile organisations. As the newest recruit to the Environmental Planning team you will work with colleagues to deliver specialist, technical ecological expertise on utility and built development projects.
Role & Company:
You'll be joining at an exciting period of growth and as the lead ecologist will play a key role in supporting this developing, expanding business area. Project work will vary from high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK, through to built development residential and mixed-use schemes.
You'll work with internal and external teams liaising with clients, Natural England, County Ecologists, Local Authority planning officers, and stakeholders. You'll input into development and design proposals, including masterplanning and construction methodologies, assisting with gaining the necessary consents and licenses in order to deliver medium / large scale infrastructure, energy, residential and commercial projects. You'll offer Ecological advice and provide innovative mitigation solutions enhancement consideration across a range of sites and schemes with varying levels of Environmental and Ecological sensitivities. You will also have the opportunity to feed into EIA project work. A large part of your role will be to coordinate and manage the procurement of freelancers or small ecological consultancies you're partnering with to complete project work.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A degree in a relevant disciplines
* Full Chartership of CIEEM
* Good understanding of EcIA, Planning regulations and nature conservation legislations
* At least one protected species license (Ideally)
* Familiarity with GIS
* This role will be office based but may require attendance at site visits, clients meetings and trips to visit your external consultants.
* A driving licence is required.
To be successful in this role you will be happy to challenge decisions of others and be confident in making your own, to ensure the best result for the project. You'll have a real passion for ecology and understanding of relevant methodologies and legislation but you'll see the importance of facilitating the client's work in the best possible commercial practice. You'll be liaising with clients, including engineers, developers, landowners to provide ecological advice on how to facilitate development on their project.
